So, you received your MacBook and some training, now what?
Click on the MacBook Basics page to the right. There is a lot of content within that page. Review what you can-when you can. That is the beauty of online educational resources.
You might notice that many of the pages are blank. Well, this is a work in progress and I hope to involve interested teachers in creating the content on these pages. Additionally, more pages will probably be added as the year progresses. These pages will provide digital resources for our training sessions. Ultimately, using this Wiki will allow you to see the instructional value of using Wikis in the classroom. They are a great way for groups to collaborate on projects. Teachers can view who contributes to the Wikis. Students creating reliable content would be beneficial for students around the world.
Navigating this Wiki
Over the next year, you can find various resources to integrate worthwhile technology into your classroom. Wikis are just one way to use web-based technologies, and they are extremely worthwhile instructional tools. Wikipedia is just one successful version of thousands of people creating content with a Wiki.
All the pages associated with this Wiki can be found to the right. There aren't many pages at the moment, but I hope we can develop more. I would like you to use this opportunity to learn how to navigate and use the Wikispaces platform.
To help create content, create a username and password on the Wikispaces website. Then, request membership to the Wiki on the Member's page. I would like us to all add to the pages that follow. As you can see, I thought we could create lists of teaching resources for all of the elementary buildings. We could also include ideas, files, and thoughts. I will soon include videos on editing these Wiki pages.
